Cinco de Mayo

Since Ben and I have been married, Cinco de Mayo has had some terrible memories. For instance, one year we woke up to find our car that was parked in front of our house had been smashed. Next to the car we found an empty bottle of Tequila. No note, only the bottle of tequila. The car was $1000 away from being totaled and was never the same after that.

Most years, we stay inside and avoid anything that resembles a celebration. This year, since we are living in Mexico, Ben and I thought maybe the tides had turned, but we were wrong.

Ben had the day off of work and we really wanted to do something fun as a family, so Ben and I planned on taking the kids to the Zoo. However, at about 3 a.m. Jack started throwing up everywhere.  It was everywhere.  We got the sheets changed, new pajamas, and put him back in bed, but as soon as we did he threw up again. (Isn't that the way it always goes?)  He finally fell asleep, and the rest of the night/morning was fine.  He woke up in a great mood asking for chocolate chips. I thought, perfect, let's go to the Zoo, he's fine. Then he threw up again. Instead of going to the zoo, my day was spent cleaning up puke and doing laundry.

We did however, stop at our favorite taco place for dinner and had a few tacos.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!

what a bummer. hope he's better now.
I must say, I never really understood what everyone (for lack of tacos? others?) was talking about, but now I do, and I want some tacos!!!! I live in a town populated by many Mexicans but I don't think the tacos look like that.

Those tacos look really good. Its kind of odd for me to switch from that thought to talking about the throw-up...but I wanted to comment on both!

I'm sorry your day got ruined with it. I was so grateful when Eden learned how to tell when she was going to throw-up. Cleaning up is so much easier when they learn that and can get to a toilet or a bucket in time. My boys haven't learned it yet. I hope Jack is doing better now and that everyone else doesn't catch it too.
