Dear Halloween.

Halloween is not my favorite holiday. There I said it. First, I don't like scary things. Second, I wish I could come up with amazing homemade costumes for my entire family to wear (you know, like my sister Jodie does for her family), but end up buying extremely generic costumes. Then I feel totally deflated.
However, this year was a lot of fun. We had Trunk-or-Treat at the Embassy, and an adult party at a friends house that was SO. MUCH. FUN.
It was a good year for Halloween, nonetheless, we are done, and moving on to the next holiday.
Thanksgiving. The holiday centered around eating and giving thanks. Now that is my kind of holiday.

Ben and I went as Padme and Obi Wan. You know, from Star Wars.
Jack and Thomas were really excited about our costumes, and told us that they couldn't wait to play dress up with us.

Thanks, Misty for these pictures!

What I love.

At the end of the day, or in this case, week.  I have Ben, Jack and Thomas.

This week was quite busy.  It was full of things to check off a list, dates and times to keep track of, projects to finish and events to attend.
I actually really liked this week; it was nice to have so much to do.  It is also really nice to know that if nothing went as planned, and nothing worked out this week, I would still have an amazing family behind me.  It is an enormous strength to me, and for that I am grateful.

I love the guys in my life.

Pictures of the boys in their costumes.
Thomas decided right before we left for the Embassy Halloween party that he did not want to be in costume, so he went in his normal clothes and firefighter rain boots.

Thomas surprised both Ben and I when he could not get enough of the haunted house (which was pretty scary).  He would sneak up to the back door, get a glimpse, run away, and repeat.  He did this the entire time the haunted house was going.  When all of the characters cleared out, he went in, and refused to come out.  There was a coffin that he was dying to play in.  (Aren't I clever?)  Thomas and Ben can have that scary stuff.  Jack and I will stay at the bounce house and leave the scary stuff to others.  It was a great party!  We had a great time.

A knight and a pilot.

These pictures were from before our church Trunk-or-Treat on Friday.

On Halloween, we had trick-or-treating at Ben's work, but neither of the boys wanted to dress up in their costumes.  Jack told me that he had already worn his knight costume for Halloween, and didn't want to do it again.  He wore a police officer coat and Thomas wore his Batman cape, with their regular clothes and crocs.  Very Halloween-y.

When we left for Ben's work, Jack started not feeling well.  By the time we were trick-or-treating, he had a fever.  We left early and he spent the night curled up on the couch with a warm blanket.
We decided not to carve our pumpkin.  Maybe tonight...

Happy Halloween.

We had a great Halloween this year, thanks for asking.  We carved pumpkins, we dressed up for a little trick-or-treating at Ben's work, and Jack and I went to Sea World for their Halloween Spooktacular.

Happy Halloween!

Close, but not so much.

Are you so excited to hear about what we wore for the Halloween party?
Unfortunately we were not able to make it.

It seems that whenever I get really excited about something, it never works out the way I want it.  The Halloween party was no different.  We had the whole thing planned out; we would call our normal babysitter, and have a night out.  Apparently, we are not the only ones that think our babysitter is amazing.  We ended up without anyone to watch the kids, so we didn't go.  Yes, we could have searched and found someone, but we didn't.  I still couldn't figure out a costume, so it was one less thing I had to worry about.

Maybe next year.

There will still be a party for the kids, so have no fear; there will be pictures of costumes.

For now, we have pictures of a pumpkin patch.  (Actually it was a parking lot with hay, but it worked for our needs.)

Jack saw the bat-mobile and HAD to drive it.  The boy loves Batman.

Happy Halloween!

We had so much fun this Halloween!

Jack and Dad carving the pumpkin!

My friend made the cute M&M costumes! We went "trick-or treating" to a few houses, but the excitement didn't last long.

We went to a Halloween party with some people from church-it was so much fun. Jack was glad that we were leaving him with the babysitter-he did not want much to do with us once we had all of our make-up on.
