Fun at the Park

On Thursday we were able to join Ben for a work picnic.  It was a lot of fun.  We were at a park on the New Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge, with great views of NYC.
My favorite part was watching Jack and Ben playing.  Going to the park with Ben and the kids is a lot of fun, because Ben loves to play just as much as Jack does.  The swings are the best.  Ben starts to laugh when he gets high enough, and then Jack starts to giggle, and then I start to giggle.  It is great.
I always find Ben's work parties very interesting.  Ben is among the youngest agents in the office, but he is one of the few with kids.  Can you imagine what happens when we show up?  Jack ran around ate cookies, got really chocolatey, found every football, soccer ball and frisbee- and thought he could take it and play with it.  Then Thomas cried a lot, spit up, and had about three diaper changes in a matter of an hour.  I am sure it is a good form of birth control for anyone who was paying attention. I am pretty sure they think Ben is crazy.  They think that having two kids and a wife that doesn't earn any money makes him at the top of their pitty list. Which is ironic, because they are at the top of ours. As Ben says, they don't have anyone to make them a meal.    They don't have a two year old who is learning how to say "I love you, daddy".  They don't have a two month old that smiles and laughs when you tickle his belly and make faces.  They don't have anyone to give them meaning in their lives.  They are missing out.

The view from that park is great, isn't it? I know what you mean about the other agents without kids. They can have being single and living in Manhattan. They are the ones missing out on how wonderful having a family can be.
