Still here.

No baby
. The 4th came and went. I know that I am only one day passed my due date, but a song and a poem from my childhood come to mind. Remember that cute little lamb that would sing the annoying song at the end of each show- THIS IS THE SONG THAT NEVER ENDS? For my purpose, I have changed it to This is the pregnancy that never ends. I have even started doing research to see what the longest pregnancy is...not a lot of reliable information.

The poem that comes to my mind is by Shel Silverstein, "Homework oh Homework". This was a favorite of mine, but in this case I have change the words to, Due Date oh Due Date I hate you, you stink. I really have no problem being pregnant, but it's so anti-climatic to have this day that has been so connected to when this little one was to make his appearance, come and go, with nothing. I wish that I had the hope that it could be any day, but right now, I am huge, uncomfortable, and very hormonal. Not a very good combination. Very little hope exists in my pregnancy induced delusional head.
So, we wait. Oh, and I have made up a new due date. October 21, 2010. I think this should be enough time that this little one will be out for sure.

Wednesday.

Happy Wednesday. I love Wednesdays, after Tuesdays and Thursdays, Wednesday is my favorite. Today is particularly exciting because my mom is coming. I don't think I have been so excited to see my mom since I was little. It is just comforting to know that if I go into labor in the middle of the night, she is here to take care of Jack. It is also nice because Ben and I are going away for a night, and she is going to take care of the little one. YEAH FOR MOMS!!!

According to my due date of July 4th, I am 38 weeks and 4 days. I think it will be longer than that. If it is, I am hoping for July 8. The reason? So that our little boy (who still does not have a name) can have a birthday of 07/08/09. How awesome would that be?

Pregnancy

36 Weeks

We have four weeks left. My pregnant belly is huge, and it feels like it has grown exponentially in the last few days.

We still don't have a name picked out for the little one. This has been very frustrating, the good news is eventually we will have a solution.

A few people have asked me about our plans for the birth of the baby. When I first found out I was pregnant, I really wanted to have a home birth. I have watched The Business of Being Born several times, (it is a documentary by Ricki Lake about home birth and gives a unique perspective of birth) and really wanted to experience having a baby at home. For me, I want a natural childbirth, and I want to be in a place that is comfortable. Since I don't like hospitals very much, I really considered having a home birth. The reason that I am not having a home birth is that the people around me were not as comfortable with the idea as I was. That's okay. I want everyone to be comfortable. So, instead, I found midwives in my area that feel the same way about birth that I do, and a hospital that is very natural childbirth friendly. I am very excited. I think birth can be very empowering. I feel that it is something that only women get to experience, and, if, as a woman we do all we can to know what is happening to us, it can be a remarkable experience. Now, that being said, I also want to say that I think that having a baby is very personal. There are people that choose to do things differently than I do. My wish for everyone having a baby is to have a positive experience, whatever it takes. Last time I planned on having a natural childbirth, but it didn't work out. I still had an awesome delivery, and Jack came out perfectly.

If you would like to watch The Business of Being Born, it is on Netflix watch it now. They also have a website -here-

On a completely different note, I started a new blog just for pictures and videos taken from the camera on my phone. The link is on the side- or here.

Fun times.

We haven't had a lot going on, but here are some pictures from the last little while. Our little family is doing great. Ben is working, working, working. He has been so busy, but loving it. We are excited because he has some training in Chicago in April, and Jack and I are going to tag along!! I am really excited because I have some family in Chicago that I have not seen in forever that we are going to be able to visit with!! YEAH!!
Jack is doing great! He has been really great the last few weeks. I think he is a pretty amazing kid.
I am doing well, but this pregnancy has been a lot more difficult than with Jack. I am a lot bigger this time than last time, which causes a little concern, but what are you going to do?
That is about all that is happening with us. We continue to move forward...

This video is Jack launching blocks into the air. It gets a little long...you don't have to watch the entire thing to get the idea.

For St. Patrick's day, Jack and I went to a play place for some fun. He loved it. Especially the balls.

He lost one of his socks in the ball pit. I tried looking for it, but it was long gone.

26 weeks

I think that pregnancy has to be uncomfortable so that I have the desire to have this little one out, otherwise, I might just want to stay pregnant a lot longer.

Fantastic Friday.

Jack and I had so much fun today. I was having a craving for something sweet, so we made a cake. He loved helping out. We turned on some music, danced around, and made the cake. What a great time! The cake was delicious, and it was fun to have Jack help out.
If Grandma Dexter (Jack's great grandma) reads this, we used your chocolate frosting recipe. IT IS THE BEST!

Mom's little helper.

Jack helping stir the frosting.

The final cake, after we each had a piece. It was so good.

This is my preggo belly. This is the stage I like, small enough that it isn't obtrusive, but enough to know I am pregnant.

Yeah for blue!

We are going to be having another little boy! We could not be more excited. I must admit, I thought it was going to be a girl, but I am so thrilled. The most important thing is that he looks healthy, and right now, things look good. We really are looking forward to little Jack being a big brother.
Another added bonus is that having a boy is going to save us some money. I had already planned a lot of little expenses for a girl, and now, we don't have to spend the cash. LOVE IT!
We are all excited, and we can't wait to meet the little one.

I love it.

Today I thought I would just say how grateful I am to be pregnant. I love being pregnant. When I was pregnant with Jack I would tell everyone that if having kids was based solely on being pregnant, I would have dozens of kids. I think being pregnant might be one of my favorite things, ever. Don't get me wrong, with Jack I gained at least 50 pounds- (I think it was closer to 60, but I stopped looking). I break out, have a hard time wearing contacts, and other things that aren't very pleasant, and I really don't look very good at all. Nonetheless, I love it. You know, I am only halfway through this pregnancy, so something could come up, but today, things are great. I LOVE IT.
Oh, Ben and I are going in for the big ultrasound on Monday. I really think it is a girl, and everyone I talk to thinks its a girl, but we all have a 50/50 chance.
Things are great.

Ready or not...

Here comes number two! We are so excited, baby Whitaker #2 is coming to our little family! My due date is July 4th, we love July babies. Everything is going really well so far. I was really sick for the first few weeks, but that has been better the last few days.
We have taught Jack the sign for baby, and now when he sees anyone smaller than he is, he makes the sign. We are trying to prepare him for the shock of the changes coming to him.
We could not be more happy. We hope that things continue to go well.
