Potty Training (Of sorts)

Every time Jack needs to go to the bathroom, guess where he goes.  Is it the bathroom?  No, that would make my life too easy.  Instead, he hides in the corner of the family room.  I thought I would use this to my advantage.  I moved his little potty back there so that maybe he would use it in his "hiding time".  He looked at me like I was crazy.  A few days later, when I was in the bathroom, Jack brought his little potty back.  Without saying a word, he looked at me, looked at his potty, and put it down on the ground.  "This is where this belongs, Mom," he seemed to say with his eyes and almost a little embarrassment that I would have moved it out of its proper place.
So the potty is in the bathroom.  When I see him back there I do ask him if he wants to go to the bathroom for privacy, but I am only answered with a grunt and a jeer.

We are not pushing potting training right now, there is a lot going on, and it would be a little crazy.  I am hoping that he will have the desire soon.  We'll see.
I am more worried about his eating habits right now...or lack thereof.  Any ideas for picky eaters?

Potty training....may the force be with you.

I know exactly how it is to have a picky eater. Elijah will go for a week or two eating nothing but snacks and yogurt. Some days it seems like he just doesn't eat anything. It is very stressful for me, especially since he is a tiny little guy and needs all the food and calories he can get. We are getting ready to try potty training soon, so please pass on any tips you learn from Jack.

Oh! I thought I'd already commented on this one! Ugh, potty training is such a pain!! We've been trying it out a little, too and Van has gotten a little scared of it, I think. I think our boys will probably be closer to 3 before we're trained! Jack is still cute though...potty trained or not!

PS I'm SO excited about you guys making your way down here soon!! We need to discuss details because I really want to see you and those boys of yours ASAP!!

Just remember they can only eat what is available. While it sounds daunting having them help in the preparation is usually motivating. Obviously I am no expert as you will remember Jacob at nearly every meal saying "I'm tired" and then eating very little. There is nothing wrong with skinny kids, beats the obese epidemic!

Ugh, yes we are fighting the beast named potty training right now too. Harmony will go but only if I put her on the potty and then wait, and wait, and wait some more. I tried putting panties on her the other day thinking that maybe that is the jump start that she needed. No luck...she'd only tell me she had to go AFTER she had already went. So after about 2days of constant changing and laundry I put her back in diapers. She just hasn't figured out that she needs to come and tell me BEFORE she actually goes. Although today as we were changing after swimming at the Y she did tell me "me pee, me pee" and then proceeded to pee all over the bench, towels and the floor so maybe a breakthrough is around the bend. I sure hope so, having 2 in diapers is getting expensive!

Oh, I forgot to mention something about the picky eater thing....I saw a book somewhere that showed how to make funny faces, animals etc out of food to help motivate kids to eat. I can't remember the title of the book or even any of the ideas except for a hot dog that was made into an octopus sitting ontop of green ramen noodles. (sounds real appetizing doesn't it?)
