Z-O-O.

Jack is into spelling everything these days.  So when I told him we were going to the zoo, he told me he was excited to go to the Z-O-O.
Well done, son, well done.

This is the second time to the Zoo, the first time was documented here.

Since it was our second time, and we weren't with a large group, we could go at our own pace.  We could stop and play at the playground, watch the guinea pigs try to escape when the zookeeper opened the door to bring them food, and leave before the meltdowns.

There was only one regret from today.  It has been raining a lot lately and it was quite muddy, and Thomas fell into one of the puddles.  Mud was EVERYWHERE.  I wish I had a picture of that disaster, but alas, I was too busy consoling and cleaning to take pictures.

It was a good day.

Not from our Zoo adventure, but an awesome picture, from a few days ago, of the clouds over the ocean.

Extreme eating.

.
This was one of the more fascinating things we saw today- hooks on a zipline down to the lions.
Feeding time.

Have you ever seen crocodiles/alligators that almost look dead because they don't move at all while you are watching them?  Well this guy opened his mouth to show off his teeth right when we were standing there.  Good show.

What I wore.

After our run in with the mud- you should have seen the other guy.

I desperately need a pedicure, but the Marine Ball is coming up, and I am saving myself so that it will be perfect.

The Sri Lankan Zoo.

We were able to venture to the Zoo the other day, and it was an experience.

The weather was perfect.  It is the first day that when we walked out the door, we were not hit by a wall of heat.  It was hot, but not HOT.  That was nice.  It rained for a moment (which is why Jack is holding the umbrella), but other than that, the weather was great.  It was small enough that we were able to see most (if not all) of the animals.

We were able to see some bunnies in a crate, which I am not sure were food for some of the larger animals, or a new display...

Jack was the main photographer, which I think helped keep him entertained.  Thomas' favorite part was the sea lion show, which we don't have a picture of, sorry.  The elephant show was pretty entertaining, although we had the rear view, and a few of the elephants relieved themselves, much to the disgust and wonder to some of the kids we were with.  The elephant show somewhat reminded me of the circus...well kind of.

It was a fun day, and both of the boys slept REALLY well, which makes me happy.
So, maybe we will have to do it again.

Safari Park.

We went to the Safari Zoo Park, and we had a great time!  It is a bit of a drive, but totally worth it.  The park is much bigger than the traditional San Diego Zoo, but has more of a natural habitat feel.

Thomas' favorite part was lunch, and Jack's favorite part was the foot massage chair.  He really lucked out when some kids put a quarter in, but had to leave with their group, so he got a free massage.  It made his day.

We ended the day with feeding some birds. Jack loved it, however, he had a hard time leaving because he didn't get to have a bird on his arm.  Oh well, next time.

 Some pictures of animals.
The giraffes because they are my favorite.  The vulture because Jack acted as photographer on our safari tour, and this was the best one he took.

I know that I am totally biased, but Jack and Thomas are seriously cute. They are amazing boys, and they are so much fun. I am completely grateful for these two little guys.

Time for Jack.

Jack preparing himself to be in the Dolphin Show at Sea World.

At the Zoo.

Playing cars with Dad.

It is time that Jack had some pictures put up of him.  These days, it is hard to take a picture of Jack if he knows about it.
He is a typical three year old figuring out that he has opinions and that he knows EVERYTHING.  The things he says make me laugh, and it is always in such a matter-of-fact way, that it is hard to argue with him.
I love the little guy.

Elephant Lion

We went to the Zoo today.  Have I mentioned how much I love the zoo?
On our way, I asked Jack what animals he wanted to see.  This is what he said:
Jack:  "I want to see the Elephant lion."
Me:  "I have never heard of that animal, where does it live?"
Jack:  "Tijuana."

We are now on the look-out for an Elephant lion.  If you see one, let us know.

(These pictures are from a few weeks ago, when Ben was able to make it with us.)

A Trip to the Zoo.

After a week stuck inside, we decided to venture out to the San Diego Zoo.  It was great, the weather was perfect, the kids were happy to be out, and I wasn't in any more pain!  It was a perfect way to spend a few hours.

Finally...

I realize that it has been awhile since I have posted anything. We have had quite a month. We went to Virginia for two and a half weeks because Ben had some training. Then it was the week of Thanksgiving. November flew by.
We had a really great time in Virginia. We were able to see some really great friends, and we went to the National Zoo.
One of the things that I absolutely love about DC is that nearly everything is free, including the Zoo. How can you complain about that? Jack loved it! He can make the noises of the lion, the monkey, and the cows (they had a farm section). What an amazing little guy!

The tiger.
Our Thanksgiving didn't go very well. We had our first ever Thanksgiving at our house. I undercooked the turkey, but by the time we figured it out, it had been awhile since I had eaten anything (my poor husband, and my senstive blood sugar levels) so we just ate the side dishes, and a few bites of the only part that was cooked. I guess there is always next year, and the hope for an invite to someone's house.
